We had the honor of planning a surprise birthday for Lisa last year where Thierry proposed so when they came to us asking us to plan their intimate wedding we were SO excited. The couple prioritized a few things; elegance, their picturesque backyard view of the Pacific Ocean, and their dear friends and family. The couple chose 14 of their closest loved ones to help them celebrate their marriage.
“June gloom”, a layer of clouds in early summer that rarely lets the sun peak through, has plagued Southern California longer than usual this year. Lucky for our couple Lisa and Thierry, the weather was near-perfect on their summer wedding day.
We had an abundance of flowers; overflowing the ceremony space, reception table, and surrounding the live guitarist. The bright summery pink florals contrasted against the neutrals found in their home’s architecture. We also fully designed their table scape to be all neutral and natural pieces to amplify that contrast.
This wedding was unique in a number of ways; one of which was that the set up for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were all in the same space! This meant utilizing the space to my advantage to provide a smooth flowing event without any time to flip the space.
Set up involved preparing the dinner table—We designed the place settings to complement the bright florals. We chose to go with a mixture of neutrals and textures that ended up looking amazing!
The ceremony began in the afternoon, the couple standing in front of gorgeous floral displays and an even more gorgeous view of Laguna Beach. Guests stood around the couple for the short ceremony and was then greeted with champagne to kick off cocktail hour.
The live guitarist elevated the wedding’s intimate yet elegant vibe throughout the night. After mingling with each other, it was time for the 6 course meal. Sorbet served halfway between courses beautifully cleansed the palette before the main dish, roasted rack of lamb.
The couple wanted to incorporate their beloved art piece, “You Made Me Flutter” by Andrew Myers into their special day. They settled on inspiring their 3-tiered cake on the art piece. This has to be my favorite cake so far!
As favors, guests were sent home with a mini cake replica. What’s better than a personal cake to go? Lisa + Thierry and their guests enjoyed the night overlooking the ocean as the sun went down. We want to thank our amazing vendor team for helping us execute a magical intimate wedding day for Lisa and Thierry!
