Last year I had the honor of being a part of the most perfect Millwick wedding in DTLA.
Firstly, I met Kailee and Francisco at a coffee shop in Newport Beach and we immediately hit it off. They were both so sweet, obviously in love but what stood out the most to me was their genuine personalities. They wanted their wedding to represent their story, personality and be true to both of them. And let me tell you, it was!
The morning started at a nearby DTLA hotel with a serene ‘getting ready’ setting that included only immediate family. Kailee and Francisco chose to not have the traditional wedding party and instead had their parents as the ‘best man’ and ‘maid of honor’. I loved how intimate it made the morning and entire day feel.
Foolishly Rushing In captured an intimate first look at Millwick before the guests arrived. The ceremony was set by The Little Branch with the most beautiful copper arch and floral details.
You know when wedding vendors tell you they love weddings because every wedding is different? Well, this is especially true for this wedding. During the ceremony, a LAPD helicopter started to hover very loudly. This was one of those elements that were out of my control as a planner but everyone did have a good laugh and then the helicopter thankfully went on its way.
It was time to enjoy cocktail hour for guests AND our couple. Often times the bride and groom will miss out on cocktail hour because they have photos to take. However, Kailee and Francisco had all their family photos done before the ceremony so they were able to enjoy mingling with guests.
Let’s talk about seating arrangements! One of my favorite touches of the evening was definitely the table names. Each table name represented a different stage in their relationship. Everything from “The Tinder Swipe” on to “Oh Shit This is Serious”. This was such a fun way for guests to learn a little more about their relationship.
The reception space at Millwick is a quick walk inside for guests and is so spacious and open with the high open beam ceilings. Kailee and Francisco’s guests were in for a BBQ feast served family style by Eco caterers.
*Tip: if you’re having family style make sure your centerpieces can be easily move to the side or moved to make room for the larger shared plates. The mixed bud vases by The Little Branch were perfect.
The personal touches were scattered throughout the night and my favorite happened during dinner. First a little background, Kailee and Francisco sent out a video invitation that consisted of asking their guests to send a video back. Francisco compiled the videos they received back and created a mini movie to be enjoyed by guests on Millwick’s large screen. It was EPIC.
The rest of the night consisted of cake, music videos and a packed dance floor.
In conclusion, from start to finish this wedding was infused with their personalities and so many fun touches. I can’t wait to work at Millwick again soon!
