As a long-time member on the Wish Upon a Wedding board, Alesha has always had a soft spot for helping the local SoCal community. When Helena + Chris’ love story was shared with her, she knew our team had to plan this very special vow renewal.
Wish Upon a Wedding is a foundation that relies on the generosity of local wedding vendors to host a wedding or vow renewal to couples experiencing terminal illnesses. We were SO lucky in being able to work with some of the best vendors in the Long Beach area for this sweet couple’s big day.
Helena and Chris told us they both loved nature, art, and the color green. As Long Beach locals, they wished to be close to home. As we searched high and low for the perfect venue, we landed on the Long Beach Museum of Art. It was a PERFECT match as it blended their love for art, nature, and was nearby home.
Lush white ground florals arrived as Bella Blooms began displaying the gorgeous arrangements. As we finalized our ceremony set-up photographer John Joseph Photography and videographer Steven Dorn captured the details before guests arrived.
Helena and her bridesmaids started their day being pampered by her make-up artist, Erika.
For the design of the ceremony, we wanted the look to be earth-toned and light to complement the ocean view. With rentals donated from La Piñata Party Rentals and beautiful linens from Nuage Designs, we had a great foundation to build upon for the intimate vow renewal. We used wooden signage to keep the look organic and somewhat rustic. The placecards, welcome sign, and drink stirrers were from Delovely Details.
As guests started arriving and signing the guest book, Moses Lin serenaded the crowd with the couple’s favorite acoustic cover songs.
The two said, “I do” once again officiated by JP Reynolds in a beautiful ocean-view ceremony. Now, it was time for cocktail hour!
For cocktail hour, the 50 guests found their way into the museum to sip on some refreshing and vibrant mocktails from Moonlight Mocktails! We also had custom stir sticks for the signature drinks. Helena LOVED the customization of their initials on them!
The hour was filled with more live music, mocktails, and Mexican-inspired appetizers from Artisan Taco Company.
During the fun mocktail hour, our team was busy flipping the space into reception. We did not want the amazing view to be wasted! As we finished up moving chairs, DJ Austo was ready to kick off the night’s events!
Dinner was provided by Soho Taco, these tacos were a crowd pleaser for sure! The reception included an amazing grand entrance with Helena, Chris, and their young daughter Mia. It was SO sweet to see the family gleaming with happiness as they made their way into their first dance.
After dinner and speeches, dessert by Chunk-n-Chip and Nicole Bakes Cakes was underway. Meanwhile, KC Photo Booth was ready to take some glamorous photos of the guests!
Throughout the night, Helena, Chris, and their daughter Mia had an amazing time celebrating with their loved ones. We were so lucky to along this great vendor team and be a part of this Wish Upon a Wedding!
